Frequently asked questions
A quick guide to the questions that come up often in our CELPIP community.
Which English tests does Express Entry accept?
IRCC lists CELPIP-General, IELTS General Training, and PTE Core. Check the test version before booking; IELTS Academic and PTE Academic are different products. See IRCC’s current list.
Can I retake only one CELPIP skill?
Plan to take the required CELPIP test again rather than relying on a single-skill retake. For an immigration application, confirm the latest rules on IRCC’s test page before booking.
How can I choose a test centre?
Check the official CELPIP locations for availability. Then read community centre experiences about check-in, headphones, microphones, noise, and the room.
How should I practise Listening?
From recurring community discussions: finish a timed attempt, review the transcript only afterward, and write down why each missed answer was wrong. Try Listening Part 1.
What helps with Reading Part 2?
Readers often find diagram questions difficult. Practise locating the exact label and condition in the diagram before matching it to the email sentence. Practise Reading Part 2.
How can I prepare for the Speaking tasks?
Time yourself while recording an answer, then listen once for clarity, structure, and pauses. Practise responding to the actual prompt instead of memorising a full script. Open Speaking Part 1.
What should I review after a Writing task?
Check that you answered every part of the prompt, used an appropriate tone, and gave specific supporting details. Compare your response with a sample only after writing your own. Open Writing Part 1.
Are MockPip scores official CELPIP results?
No. MockPip practice estimates help you spot patterns and follow progress. Only the official test provider issues official CELPIP score reports.
Can I practise each CELPIP skill separately?
Yes. Choose Listening, Reading, Writing or Speaking, then open the part you want to practise. You can also explore full mock exams from the practice page.
When should I check the answers?
Try a task under timed conditions first. Afterward, check the Listening or Reading answers and explanations to understand the choices you missed. For Writing and Speaking, compare your response with the prompt and review available feedback.
Where can I share a test-day experience?
Use the form on our test centre page. Submissions are reviewed before they appear publicly; please leave out personal information about staff or other candidates.
