What you will do
A single news report followed by five written sentence-completion questions on one screen.
Manage this part’s time
Use brief event notes during the report. After it ends, work through the question screen using its timer; answer clear items first and reserve a final check for unanswered items.
Practice routines are MockPip suggestions, not additional official timing rules.A step-by-step approach
- Identify the central event, place and people involved.
- Track what caused the event and what happened afterward.
- Label who supplied a quoted statement.
- Select completions that preserve the report’s meaning and level of certainty.
Techniques for this part
- Write an event timeline: before → incident → response → next step.
- Distinguish “officials confirmed” from “residents believe”; attribution can determine the correct answer.
- Check whether the question asks about a completed action or a future proposal.
See the technique in action
Original mini-example: A bridge has reopened after inspection, but new repairs are planned next month. Reopening is completed; repairs are future work. Keep these events in separate notes.
This example is independently written for practice.
Common mistakes to avoid
- Mixing background information with the latest development.
- Turning a prediction into a confirmed outcome.
- Selecting an answer based on outside knowledge of the topic.
Choose an answer for every question
Wrong answers do not lose points. Eliminate implausible choices, then choose one best answer per question; leave no question blank. This does not mean selecting every option.

Write a headline and a four-point timeline after one listen. During review, locate the evidence for each event and correct any invented connection.
Before you finish
- What is the main event?
- Who is the source of each claim?
- Have I filled every answer on the screen?
